Pastor Harold and Rev. Monique Carter, of New Shiloh Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD, recently returned from a grand preaching and missions journey in Itarsi, India. They traveled to Itarsi at the request of Dr. Matthew K. Thomas, President of the Central India Outreach for the Golden Jubilee Fellowship of Pentecostal Churches in India. The scope of the fellowship includes over 1200 churches throughout India. Pastors, leaders, scholars and program participants travel from all over the world for the conference, which also included a commencement for the seminary students. The Carters were prayed up and ready to meet the demanding preaching and teaching schedule. Prayers and determined faith made a difference, as there was a government presence at many of the sessions. Rev. Carter stated that while they were there, they were told the new prime minister declared that no more Bibles were to be printed and/or sold in India. Indeed, some of the particpants, from the US, were not able to travel to the conference because their visas were denied at departure. Along with the Central India Theological Seminary, the Central India Outreach also includes the House of Hope Orphanage, the Mercy Clinic, the Restoration Centre Lives Empowered, Indovision 20/20 and the Vocational Instructional Centre.

The Carters were amazed after hearing some of the students of the seminary and children of the orphanage speak about the travails of their life before arriving at the outreach. They heard from many young people who were assaulted, abused and cast aside and left to perish. Praise God for the dedicated work of Dr. Thomas and his wife, Mrs. Aleyamma C. Thomas, a nurse, who labors with her husband. The Carters are planning now to send supplies to aid the children of the orphanage. When it was time to depart, the Carters gave a financial gift for the continued work of the outreach as well as a video greeting from Bishop Neil C. Ellis and the Global United Fellowship. Both of the Carters say that they are humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve and they are already looking forward to their next journey.
