Today is Singles Day, do you know about it? I admit this is the first year I’ve heard of it. What started as a celebration for single Chinese university students is now The Biggest Shopping Day in China. To compare, it dwarfs, Amazon Prime, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I believe this is the reason I have seen an uptick in cyber sales in my inbox

Academy Award Winner Extraordinaire, Denzel Washington made a change in his life to influence millennials and focus on the Gospel, more Bravos

When my dear daughter spent her junior year at LSE, she met D’Joy Fayale, who was studying for a semester in London. D’Joy’s blog post for her 24th birthday festivities is beautifully penned and wonderful, feels on feels. She is a maestro with words, a must read

Finally, as one who grew up in a pastor’s home, my heart sank when I learned that fellow PK Annabelle Pomeroy was one of the Christians whose life was taken at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs. The grief continued as news came that so many of the lives lost were young people. News that eight people in one family were killed and subsequent details seemed too much to bear. For CNN, Ed Stetzer wrote an editorial that crystalizes the truth of a life for Christ. There is comfort is witnessing the outpour of love to this tight community. I know that, like me, you will continue to pray for and contribute to the Sutherland Springs Church community, especially as they move forward with Sunday service tomorrow. Sherri Pomeroy, wife of Pastor Frank Pomeroy, said the “service will show the world we may be knocked down temporarily but We Are Not Defeated.”

Must I be carried to the skies, on flow’ry beds of ease                                                                    While others fought to win the prize and sail through bloody seas                                                      Sure I must fight, if I would reign Increase my courage Lord                                                           I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain supported by thy Word

Annabelle’s story really touched me, as well. It was only less than a month ago that my husband and I left our 14 year-old PK behind to celebrate our anniversary. Although I do not understand, I have to believe that God knows what He is doing. There is no reason that we couldn’t also be in the very same situation at this moment. I feel like I really need to reach out to the Pomeroys. It might not have had the outcome that we all would expect and it’s too easy for me to say but there is still hope and His blood still works.

I read that Annabelle’s mom said her daughter would not have been able to bear surviving without her friends. Still the outpour from people gives comfort and proves His Blood
