Last Monday night at Highland Park we had a Town Hall meeting. Running in faith we are coming around the bend on a new church construction. We broke ground on May 31, 2014. Since that time we have continued in prayer and faith as the walls went up and the floors poured. Last December, everyone was inspired when the young people of Highland Park had an opportunity to write their names and favorite scriptures on the concrete of the floor of the sanctuary.
When we gathered on Monday night the people of Highland Park filled the sanctuary, the overflow room and the upper Wyatt annex to hear details on what God is doing in our midst. The Town Hall planning committee, led by our church clerk, Sister Eunice Dawkins, coordinated an interactive format that was exciting, informative and inspiring. People were excited to learn details about the new church facility. If you have ever witnessed the lines for the ladies restroom at Highland Park then you’d understand the happy dance at the knowledge of increased facilities for women. In addition, there will be a prayer chapel, cafe, bookstore and fellowship hall. Best of all we will have sanctuary seating that will allow worshippers to sit in together as opposed to our current seating arrangement.
One of the unique pleasures of Christian service is the opportunity to do corporate work with other Christians. It may be on the mission field, other times it may be evangelistic. Whatever the venue for service, teamwork makes the experience rich and fulfilling. This is why I consider it a sacred privilege to come together with brothers and sisters in Christ to advance the cause of Christ in building a place of worship.
