FOUNDER’S DAY WEEKEND 2018

For the IAMWMW, the first weekend in December is set aside as the time that the sisterhood journeys to Richmond to the home of the founder, Elizabeth Coles Bouey. The activities for the weekend include a wreath laying and memorial, an open house at the organization’s headquarters and a worship service. Many were blessed by the music ministry and preached word from President Payton’s church family and her pastor, Rev. Christopher L. Nichols of Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church at the worship service.

The weekend concluded with the Annual Founder’s Day Luncheon that honors members of the organization. This year one of the ladies honored was FBHP’s own Mrs. Dorothy Jean Fontenot. As one of the honorees, she was inducted into the ‘Wall of Fame’ and a portrait of her will be on display at the headquarters in Richmond. I was delighted to make to trip to Richmond to witness her receiving this well deserved honor. As the newly elected president of the IAMWMW, this was Dr. Margaret Payton Brown’s first year hosting Founder’s Day Weekend. I believe all are in agreement that our sisterhood remains in stellar and loving hands.
