Last February, the young people of Highland Park were invited to sign the floor with their name and a favorite scripture on the first level of the new church construction. On the last Friday night in August, members and friends of First Baptist Church of Highland Park were grateful and excited for a long awaited first look inside the new sanctuary at the construction site and sign the floor before the carpet placement. It was an exciting evening that began in our current sanctuary with prayer, singing and testimonies. In a timely manner, groups of 40-50 made their way up the hill to enter the new worship center. There were oohs and ahhs as people could sense what the new sanctuary will look like. Many people simply wanted to stand and behold the reality of the moment. Markers were plentiful, as well as pillows to cushion the knee for those who desired one. Some people came with a list of names and scriptures that they had to pen on behalf of others. It seemed as though everyone sensed the great blessing and privilege it was to be a part of a touchstone night. All Glory to God.
