Happy Mother’s Day March 71, 2020 Quarantime

Last Saturday, First Lady Trina Jenkins hosted her Grace Girls online. She was joined by two of her dear friends, Co-Pastor Susie Owens and Co-Pastor DeeDee Freeman. If you missed it, you missed a session of delightful straight-up inspiration. Do yourself a favor and view it here

It was a relief the day I picked my daughter up at the Amtrak station when she came home from NY. I’d been praying about her being in NY. Her brother and I had been asking her to come home for over a week. It was after her supervisor/mentor told her if work was the only reason that she was in NY, that it was time to leave, that she got her train ticket. She told me that she would be home by the weekend. I, her momma, told her to pack and get on a train. Still many choose to stay in NY and one of my favorite bloggers, a writer par excellence, wrote about living in NY right now

Cheddar’s Broccoli Cheese Casserole

Among the take-out meals that we have had during the pandemic was Cheddar’s. We don’t get to Cheddar’s often, but the reduction in traffic has made it an easy drive and right now they have family meals. I had a side of broccoli cheese casserole and it was so good I looked online for copycat recipes. I used a blend of two recipes, this one and this one mainly for the spices and I added a few cloves of garlic. I used fresh broccoli and I used brown rice because that was what we had and market was out of rice….the shelves were empty. It was delicious and we enjoyed it

my family ready to distribute meals

On Saturday, at Highland Park we partnered with the World Central Kitchen to distribute meals to anyone in need. When my children heard volunteers were needed, both of them declared that they wanted to help. And so, on Saturday morning they were ready to go, for me that was all of the Mother’s Day that I needed

God Bless you & God Bless your family
